Have you tried it with different kinds of things? Before running the copyclip, use the line command to draw a line from 0,0,0 to wherever you think your basepoint will be. I'm glad you found a workaround but we shouldn't be having copy/paste and/or copyclip errors in AutoCAD or any other AutoDesk product. So I'm guessing that there's some reason that the Copyclip command is not succeeding in putting things there, or there's something wrong with the computer or the Windows environment. upon changing the ucs, your copyclip may not be using the basepoint you think it is. When there's nothing in the clipboard, the Pasteclip command does not offer an insertion-point prompt, as you describe. I suspect that it has nothing to do with the drawing file(s), but with the copying to the clipboard. But when I tried to paste it into a new drawing, the command line just shows "_pasteclip" and nothing happens, instead of "_pasteclip Specify insertion point." when I COPYCLIP, the command line responded and found all the items.
